I'm Tomislav, and I've been working in SEO for 15+ years as an SEO lead and fractional SEO director. I've owned strategy, execution, and the real-world parts of SEO that never show up in blog posts. I've also hired SEOs for my teams, so I know what gets someone shortlisted, what gets ignored, and what interview answers signal "this person can run SEO" versus "this person read about SEO."

I've sat on both sides of the interview table. I've written take-home assignments, evaluated candidates, and seen firsthand what separates the people who get offers from the ones who don't.

The gap usually isn't knowledge. It's preparation. Most SEOs know their craft, but they haven't practiced talking about it in a structured, confident way. They haven't had someone review their audit with a critical eye, or help them frame their experience so it actually resonates with a hiring manager.

I started SEO Career Lab because I kept seeing talented SEOs lose out on roles they were qualified for - not because they lacked skills, but because they weren't prepared for the process.
